So there will be government-owned submarine cables?
I was assured by a random Asshole on the Internet yesterday that the government does not own undersea cables.
In China everybody and everything is owned by the government. If not indirectly.
As though us in the west aren't? Even indirectly, per your own statement.
...no? Absolutely not?
Im more concerned about who owns the governments in the west.
In Europe. The governments are 'owned' by EU law 😅. From the European union.
In the west, corporations own the government. In both case, none of the people in power are democratically elected.
(Half /s)
So in China it's blanc clear that the government is owning all cooperations. Everything is government owned.
In the west, you will notice that only very large companies get very heavy subsidies for some reason, as if these companies don't have enough money. But the sad story are the small to medium businesses. They are of course not owned by the government here, however they also won't get the huge amount of political support and subsidies like large corporations. Meaning it's often very unfair to the businesses.
To make matters worse, you have seen it yourself maybe when 80% of the banks almost collapsed and suddenly where saved by the government. Like too big to fail mentality. This not only caused outrage but also reward them from being greedy and evil.
I'm not saying communists system is good. But I'm also not saying capitalism is good. In all cases, we do not have direct democracy.
If we would truly have democracy, we should be able to vote for all ideas and laws. And won't need to elect anybody. Then the people are directly in control
LOL it's not because "they don't have enough money", it's because it gets them to do things they wouldn't otherwise do, which benefits the public. Like keeping gas prices lower, keeping rent lower, keeping tuition lower, investing in internet infrastructure, creating jobs, etc.
I'm not going to argue the merits of any of these subsidies but people like to act like there's no logical reason for them to exist.
