Independent news outlet Astra said that the program features Russian-language dubbing of Carlson's American shows and is not original content for Russian viewers

Saved you a click.

That is.. a little different than the headline implies

It is. But also still, in a way, worse. He's not creating or molding a show to fit the far-right viewpoint of the current Russian administration. It's pretty indicative of the negative merit, substance, and viewpoint expressed on his current show that airs on American television if the Russian government under Putin is taking it, as is, and putting it onto their citizen's tv's.

So, I assume Fox is selling this to RTV. The big issue I see is that future shows are made to potentially sell in the future. They first air in America, then get sold to Russia. All written with the end goal of selling to Russia.

Nah. Right-wing ideology pretty much works the same way no matter who you make it for. It was the same way with the Nat regime here in Apartheid-South Africa loving US-made cop shows - all right-wingers love cop shows (for pretty obvious reasons).

Is he back on fox? Last I heard they fired him last year

So you could say, “in Soviet Russia the State TV launches you?”

[–] Buelldozer@lemmy.today 3 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Yes you could say that...if you were on /.

Imagine having the propaganda wing of the russian government vet everything you say and decide it's all OKAY

[–] Davidchan@lemmynsfw.com 15 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Like we needed further proof how far off American ideals the far right is.

[–] Linkerbaan@lemmy.world -1 points 6 months ago

I still don't understand how the far right went from "the commies are the source of all evil we must kill them all" to "who care about Russia anyway"

[–] riodoro1@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago

If they first ordered you to say those things why would they not be ok with them?

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 4 points 6 months ago

It's okay they let you be homophobic, it's real freedom of speech I swear

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 61 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Ah just have some russian guy dub it and it’s ready-to-air in russia.

Same shit, different language.

[–] FrostyTheDoo@lemmy.world 42 points 6 months ago

Waiting for the hexbears to chime in with critical support for Tucker.

[–] fuckingkangaroos@lemm.ee 10 points 6 months ago

Lemmy.ml will probably handle it for them now that nobody trusts Hexbear.

My Lemmy experience improved by a considerable amount once I blocked that instance, and I have been on here for a good while without blocking any instance. They really need to get their shit together.

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 17 points 6 months ago

Not shocking since Tucker interviewed him.

[–] uebquauntbez@lemmy.world 13 points 6 months ago

Maybe Mr. Carlson hoped for an open door in Russia, but Russia has open windows too. Many open windows ...
