I’ve been bouncing back and forth between Silksong and Hades II. The struggle is real.
I will buy Hades 2 (at full price) when done though!
They had a real long early-access, and it's still fundamentally a single player game. As long as they can afford another patch or two (and didn't spend all the ad dollars on launch), I think they could be ok.
It is done, this is a balancing patch. The early access wasn't "real long", it started in may 2024 and ended last month with frequent major updates and a completed roadmap. It will also remain a singleplayer game with no multiplayer or live service features.
Trickier then. The patch needs not be large, but I'm not sure what else they do to get a second wave of attention.
I don‘t think Silksong posed a threat to their success. They are already doing fine.
link to the new ending video (SPOILERS, OBVIOUSLY)
Without spoiling anything, it's so much better. Supergiant have managed to fix my biggest issues with it
I don't really have time to watch this ending - how does it go? What's different from the original?
I don't mind spoilers, I'm not playing the game. I just have been watching a friend who really didn't like the original ending.
ending spoilers
- the idea to spare chronos comes from melinoe. in the normal ending, zagreus spares him and melinoe gets very upset while zagreus tells her to get over it.
- Melinoe keeps her memories of the alternate universe where she grew up with her family. in the normal ending she was robbed from any sort of happy ending while everyone around her (including chronos) remembers her living happily in the house of hades. we also get a new cutscene showing her grow up with her brother.
- there's more dialogue in general to flesh out the ending and her relationship with her family.
Ahh this sounds so much better. I’ll have to make time to replay the end myself.
Spoiler
I was petty frustrated that Zag essentially stole the final decision from Mel. That didn’t sit right with me.
Ahh. Nice! Thanks for the info. This sounds a lot better imo.
I'm curious, because I just "beat" the game last night. I'll try to be spoiler free, but if someone hasn't beaten the game, don't read on. Is the "true ending" what you get when you go up, do the thing, and then go down and do the other thing? Like, when you get the achievement? Or is it related to finding the missing threads, so to speak? I'm just curious on if I've already seen the ending that's been changed, or if there is more.
If a young mel plays hide and seek, that was part of the ending scenes
Gotcha, that's what I saw. Thanks.
I didn't have an issue with the ending before but! More stuff! Woo!!!
Ooo I'm on the final few runs (I think), so it sounds like this lines up well for me!
