My wife's Elitebook was also bricked by the most recent forced BIOS update.

Apple keeps flogging 8GB of RAM for its Mac computers but it's still a dead horse in c/technology@lemmy.world

The fun think is that I don't think apple would mind abandoning these people. Most of them would just buy a new device.

I have a Netgate 3100 that I bought used. Workes fine and at full speed with my 1000/1000Mbit connection.

On the other hand they would not be verry well prepared for an open office environment.
