Not in my area. "Air support" hasn't been a thing where I play in a while. But it's not a super dense area where I usually play.

Really? I thought their whole thing was that they sell DRM-free stuff exclusively

I'm some jurisdictions, public urination can put you on a sex offender registry.

It wouldn't even matter if you're trying to be discreet and just have to go but there's no public washrooms around.

From all the apps invading your privacy and abusing your data, I didn't suspect Pokemon GO to be one of them.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic.

Even if you never played the game, it's fairly common knowledge that it uses GPS data to place in-game elements and to track where players are.

The game also uses real-world locations as in-game "treasure chests", which people were theorizing all the way back in 2016 would eventually become open to "sponsored" locations. (Every McDonalds where I am is now a PokeStop)

And if you've played the game, you've likely seen all the invitations to turn on your camera and submit photos (which are tied to your GPS), move to specific locations, walk (or create) walking routes, take short videos of landmarks, etcetcetc.

I've been playing on and off since 2016, and I've known I've been trading data in exchange for a low-cost game this whole time.

I'm not sure if it's "most [of the] hardcore players", or "[the] most hardcore players".

In the circles I'm around, spoofing is still frowned upon.

Most people don't "get" poetry.

Did you channel your edgy 15 year old self for that? That's incredibly arrogant and self absorbed.

Lol, that was what the study implied.

If I'm remembering correctly, one of the reasons that participants of the study rated human-written poetry more poorly was because it was "more difficult to understand". Conversely, the AI-generated poetry was easier to understand.

And this is coming from someone who doesn't read poetry, lol

You can define a year range when searching the games

Why do you need Nintendo to loose? You wouldn't rather Nintendo to tight?

I think the problem would be similar. The rich and powerful would be the only ones to profit off of inventions and innovations.

We still have indie game devs today. Imagine if any company could just copy an indie game and scale it up/polish a bit and get all the sales.

It doesn't appeal to the masses.

Most people don't "get" poetry. That's why you don't see many people sitting around reading books of poetry.

Many people would probably also choose a short story written by AI over one written by a professional author.

Heck, I'm sure comments written by AI generally get more upvotes than comments written by humans.

I've got a fairly new 14tb Seagate Expansion. It works fine, and I've been using it for a month and a bit.

I don't know how long it's been doing this, but the power supply is making a very faint alarm sound. The power supply is plugged into a Belkin surge protector powered on and with the "protected" status light lit, and it is plugged into an outlet. The HDD is currently not plugged in to a computer.

It's not a beep or electricity. It's a distinct weewooweewoo. I couldn't even determine the source until I pressed my ear against it.

Googling just points me towards typical "my HDD is making a sound, how long do I have until it dies", but nothing pointed me to the alarm sound from the power supply.

I'll check again if it makes the alarm in other conditions, but in the meanwhile, I was hoping someone here might know something.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: The sound only happens when...

  • Power adapter is plugged into the HDD, AND the outlet
  • HDD is NOT plugged into the computer.

Plugging it into the computer stops the noise from the power adapter.
