I only qualify it for the US because that's where most of my experience has been; I don't doubt capitalism brings out the worst in people in all cultures.

I will say up front that I am not a cheater - not because of good moral character, but because I am a terrible liar. It's less stressful to me to risk failure, than to risk being caught.
That said, a lot of cheating is excellent preparation for work in corporate America. I don't like that it is, but it is. My main beef with capitalism is that it encourages, breeds, and rewards the absolute worst attributes of human nature. There's literally nothing in capitalism that speaks to anything good in people. Knowing how to cheat, cheat profitably, and (most importantly) avoid being caught is perhaps one of the most useful skills in the American capitalist corporate space.
I guess that would harm you if the class is graded on a curve. I'm not saying they shouldn't be caught and penalized, only that expulsion from the university is a harsh penalty. Automatic failure of the class would hurt plenty, without utterly destroying someone's life.
Piracy, not privacy.
In my defense, it was my last comment of the night, on my phone. I thought I was answering the otheg c/. Oh, well.
Well, now, that will be haunting my dreams for years to come. Thanks!
Yeah, that makes more sense.
Who TF is copying out of github for their masters, though, honestly?
In America, this wouldn't save him. His wages would be garnished before they hit mommy's bank account.
At least, in the many states with protections against deadbeat dads. There are still a few where ex-spouses have no protection.
So... LLMS are... teenagers?
On the one hand: awww, poor cheater world's smallest violin meme
On the other hand: expulsion from the university for a first offense seems... harsh.
I want self-sovereign identity. I want to control who gets what information about me from my ID, and how that data is hosted. I'm aware that there are some really hostile attitudes about blockchain, but I'd like if a public blockchain could be used to host the information, so that the identity info could be decentralized and decoupled from any given provider.
I want control of my digital identity back, dammit.
postscript someone kindly pointed out this is c/piracy, not c/privacy, which I thought it was. Off topic; my bad.
I sopped using EMACS because chording is horrible for RSI and carpal tunnel. Same reason I moved off kakoune (which the author of the article mentions frequently). Kakoune is heavily chorded.
Helix is nearly pure modal, except for basic shift and some simple alt chords: most mode sequences like m-, space-, etc bring up a context menu with next-key options for the mode; it's fantastic for learning, and for remembering those things you use so rarely you never quite memorize them.
You're not going to get a telephone number you can call, but the documentation maintained by Arch is far superior to that offered by Ubuntu. If support is your biggest concern, you're far better served by Arch.
