Afaik group policies ensure certain settings are set all the time. This really just happens after a windows update.

Thanks I will check that out. I never even thought of looking into rpi knock offs

First reviews I saw on YouTube are quite disappointing. They really ship it with a powerbank and even without it this thing weights about 600 grams. I cannot imagine wearing this thing all day and do work or eh … what the fuck are you gonna do with this besides games and watching videos??

Is there something like a CM4 knockoff around? I mean compatible to the cm4. Context: I got a Turing pi 2 board lying around waiting to become my new k3s homelab cluster. They ship with adapters for the cm4, so I need somewhat a board that is pin and software compatible.

The only way of interaction with edge I got is at my work computer which runs windows 10 😑 every time after an update the edge logo sits itself back into the taskbar until I remove it again. So annoying and and encroaching. For real fuck Microsoft.

I don’t see a real „versus“ here. Wayland will definitely become the standard display server for Linux distributions. This is not sysV init vs systemd or something else. As pointed out by lots of ppl here X11 is old and insecure because it is from another time and does not fit into modern systems and requirements, thus it is way easier to start new and fresh instead of working around for any feature needed and maintain such a old code base. The only downside for me personally is that Wayland does not support always on top windows automatically. So either right click the window or use plugins for videos from Firefox for example. AFAIK this is also for security reasons. I run Wayland on my main machine for years now, no problems at all. If I got the choice I would always go for Wayland. Even Cinnamon has experimental Wayland support now and hopefully will make the switch soon.

AKAI MPC standalones running some kind of Linux flavor https://niklasnisbeth.gitlab.io/mpc-internals/

Too bad they won’t release their DAW software for Linux desktops.

Not related: but is „verboten“ (forbidden) really used in English? Just wondering because it is German.

The next job offer I will accept needs to have free choice of OS. I work with Linux systems and Kubernetes only, no Winshit but I am forced to use this shitty piece of crap of software. It is slow, buggy and clumsy as hell - maybe because of all the corporate software stuff and GPOs, the only office tools I need are outlook and teams, no word or excel but you cannot remove all the other stuff afaik. Updating is hell because it is controlled by our IT department, sometimes my laptop needs 3 restarts or is stuck in a boot loop. Just let me support myself and let me install some Linux flavor. Don’t need any support from corporate it besides vpn connection. Really fuck companies forcing *nix guys using windows. I know that for sure now. Never again.

I am confused but it seems most other instances besides feddit.de works quite well. I moved my account because the federation on feddit was (is?) broken. But yeah this was a major change and I guess most instances are sidecar projects and not professionally hosted nor maintained. I would definitely pay for a proper hosted and maintained Lemmy instance.
