Today is some more Final Fantasy 7. I felt like sitting back down with it today and played through Chapter 5. As i was backtracking i bumped into this old lady in a argument with a soldier. I was trying to get a photo of it, but accidentally got one instead where it looks like the Old Lady is about to fight Cloud and the solider is either trying to talk her out of it or into it.

I got to the opening of Chapter 5 today. I'm not really sure what's up with it but everything has like a blue tint which is really throwing me off. Idk if it's intentional or not, but it's very noticeable.

My initial struggles with the combat i feel like suddenly vanished. Maybe i just needed a moment for it to click, but when i went into Roche's fight it felt fluid and really natural. I think before i was being too aggressive with it. With this fight i did a lot more dodging and blocks which helped. I also tread to keep tabs on enemies weaknesses which really helped.

On a similar subject of the combat, there's it's wielder, Cloud. I really like how he's starting to warm up to everyone. I was worried he was always going to be kind of cold and distant, so seeing this growth is nice. Also love seeing him try to be a good friend to Tifa, we could always use more people like that in the world.

I want to see if i can play some more of it tomorrow, i'll have see though. I'm not sure what my day will be like.

So it has been in the hallway for two weeks after my son brought it home. Today, I decided to put it with his some 30 other sticks, after I tripped about it for the 10th time.

But just about 15 minutes later, I got a call from the playground: Code blue, plane on roof, plane on roof!

So I picked up the stick and rushed over to the playground. Happened to run into the the mom of the child whose plane was on the roof, nodded at her saying "don't worry, I got this" as I passed her. And I got it.

But it turned out: She had no idea what I was talking about or why I had the giant stick, since the children didn't even bother her with the problem; they went right to calling me.

Not sure if this the right place to ask but since I love sailing the high seas, maybe you guys would know. A preface before the question: I am of the mindset that others' reasons to pirate are their own and any discourse on supporting creators is not productive and financial support should be left to the individual's own devices and morals. It's not for me to judge, blah blah blah.

Anyway, I was thinking about South Park and am wondering how their shift to Paramount+ has been. I wonder if they're making any good profit since not a lot of people have subcriptions and especially so after the whole Colbert thing.

It's been suggested here and there on this sub that a good way to financially support creators, if a pirate wants to do so, is donating directly do them. Does anybody know of a way to do this with bigger creators? If South Park was in any danger of being cancelled due to funding, I was considering this option since I'll never give my money to a streaming service again. Any ideas?

So, I think cosmic apps should support whatever the global menu protocol is called, and have the top bar be ssd. The ssd would use the global menu protocol to add the already existing menu bar to the titlebar.

This would have quite a few benefits, including

  • Making every third party app with a menu bar look more native, with them getting a COSMIC-style titlebar.
  • Making COSMIC apps integrate nicer with other desktops, especially for people who use a mac-style global menu.
  • A more unified and flexible desktop experience overall.

Obvious problems being what to do with other buttons in titlebars(I propose to just move them to wherever else would make sense) and what to do on desktops with no server side decorations like GNOME. Also, on other desktops that have ssd, but don't put the global menu anywhere, there would have to be a more classic, less elegant menu bar.

This proposal definitely has downsides, but I think it'd be a definite improvement and align with COSMIC's philosphy, so tell me what you all think!

Also, if any system76 employees are reading this, pretty please 🥺 ?

I know im not the only one, trying to get gaming on linux, but im different 😀 I am hooked on Flightgear, (the flight gear group on lemmy seems dead) but im right now playing it (still as a novice) on my Lenovo T470 with Fedora. So well its running okay, but the graphics, especially the suroundings just dosnt look like wheni see thoese vids online about flightgear. So i was wondering, and dreaming about a desktop PC, running linux, that is capable of delevering better graphics in Flightgear.i dont know anything about building a pc, but do you have a recommended setup of all hardware i schould get, and software, to get Flightgear up and running more beautyfull? Im also considdering of using steam as a gameshop. Im such a noob, that i would prefer exsact list of what hardware i schould use. Btw i would like to build my own pc, because im not a fan of thoese gamercomputers with all the colourrd light insight.

I know there's many questions about self hosted Spotify alternatives, but this one has a slight twist.

Does there exist a service or service stack that provides a single sign on web interface where friends/family can login to search for and download music, stream, and create playlists/share playlists (or even their entire library) with other users?

I've always used Spotify to an extent as a social network. Almost all playlists are shared with close friends, and we share essentially a unified library. I'd like to replicate this outside of Spotify.

Essentially what Immich does but for music, podcasts, and audio books.

Some type of iPhone & android compatible app would be necessary as well.

The ability to easily upload purchased music from bandcamp as well as download pirated music from something like soulseek would be needed too.

Rabat_ Social Media Exchange (SMEX)—a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing human rights in digital spaces across MENA [Middle East and North Africa] — is warning that Israeli-linked software secretly embedded in Samsung phones across the Middle East and North Africa region poses a serious surveillance threat.

According to SMEX, Samsung’s A and M series devices either come preloaded with the app “Aura” or install it automatically through system updates, without the user’s consent. The application reportedly collects a wide range of personal and device-specific data, including IP addresses, device fingerprints, hardware details, and network information.
