That being said, the performance issues and missing features do leave a somewhat bitter taste.

GSC Game World has managed to create an incredibly atmospheric combination of survival, horror and end time in a fascinating environment. Despite all the shooter weaknesses, the wooden dialogues, the incredibly annoying anomalies over time and some dubious technical problems, I fell in love with this zone. You won't find that much freedom and mystery anywhere else. Added to this is a story that takes its time to get it going, but then surprises with cool factions and robust characters. This excursion to Chernobyl requires patience and stamina, but rewards you with spectacular views, fierce battles and an expressive end time.

As well as being the little game that could, given the team's real-world challenges, the game doubles down on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. way, delivering a sublimely realised sense of place with the Zone. Unfortunately, so much of the console experience is rendered so disappointingly undercooked.

But if you’re a fan of games like Fallout, or you enjoyed past Stalker games, then this one is worth your time.

The feeling of playing a stalker thrust into this inhospitable world against seemingly impossible odds is always present, for better or worse. However, unless you're really dying to enter the Zone right away, I would recommend waiting a little longer while the developers (and possibly modders) fix and improve the game further.

Saw this posted on a discord group that I'm in and thought it was a joke at first but when I clicked the link to Reddit, was very shocked to discover that people are actually truly discussing this kind of thing seriously. Like, it's not just a joke, they are actually upset and even triggered about this sort of thing. I mean I guess when you spend $20 to $5,000 on a digital waifu, she can't possibly be flat chested, rightttt?! /s

Is this like a normal thing for this game?

Today’s game is Uncharted 4 (and a bonus screenshot of Halo Multiplayer I accidentally took today and wanted to share). This screenshot was taken in a pretty village like area. The whole area is really gorgeous and has really good lighting imo. Another place this can be seen is in a prison area you can wander into.

This area also just has a lot of fun interactions with characters. There’s a section where one of the NPCs puts their head in a pillory. Immediately I went “oh, that’d make a fun screenshot”, and right after I took it the character mentions wishing they had their camera.

Im excitedly close to finishing the game on Crushing mode. I’m hoping to clean up all the achievements in one swift day to 100% Uncharted 4 (I plan to save Lost Legacies for a later date). I have a few exciting new games I want to pick up after that, I have to see how well they fit into my schedule though.

As promised here’s the Bonus Halo Screenshot. I got it while playing with my Best Friend and my Brother. I got my ass handed at my specialty of Snipers only, but if anyone asks i blame the controller:

Wukong is definitely one of my favorite games this year. I haven't played Souls-like games before, I mostly played action roguelikes like Dead Cells, Temtem:swarm and Darkchaser. So, Wukong is a bit challenging but very fun for me. I still remember the excitement after defeating The Great Sage's Broken Shell.

Word on the street is that Sony is in talks to buy Kadokawa, which you might know as the main shareholder of Dark Souls and Elden Ring studio FromSoftware, but which also owns other video game companies like Spike Chunsoft, Acquire, Gotcha Gotcha Games, and FromNetworks, a substantial chunk of the manga industry, a publishing arm that is responsible for many of Japan’s still-remaining gaming magazines (including Famitsu), and anime studios like Doga Kobo ENGI, Studio KADAN, and Raging Bull. The list goes on. Hoovering up the Japanese mega-conglomerate is definitely an idea, but here’s another: Don’t!

Today's game is Halo MCC. Me and my Friend finally got around to picking up our Halo 2 Legendary playthrough again (It's hell on earth). We also played a few rounds with my brother on Multiplayer (I also made some progress on Uncharted by myself today). This screenshot came from a map i was on while playing. The map gave me Xen vibes from Half Life with the sky and the funky birds.

There was also this screenshot i took of a river in the Gravemind. I really like this water. 8/10, i'd like to drink it in real life, it looks nice and cool. Maybe swim in it too.

I also got this cool clip of me ramping off a hunter during the level.

Then finally this is a screenshot of Jeffery, a Soldier we named back at the Beginning of our Halo 2 Legendary campaign almost a full half a year earlier. He rode on our tank and took out a Ghost, so he's earned an eternal spot in our Lore Book next to Jerry and Cable.

I also got another clip today. This one i got while playing CE multiplayer with brother and my friend. My friend blew him up with a Tank right as i turned too look at him

Been playing this game for weeks. I completed it and then started a new game. The game's story is excellent, but it absolutely does not justify the tedium it makes you endure to experience it. In a 40 minute sitting, I'd spend the entire thing simply having characters dialogue at me. What's the point of the open world then? Car chases are scripted so that you don't even have to fire a single shot. The enemies will just eventually blow up. 70% of dialogue choices are just for roleplay and don't change a thing or make extremely minor changes. The combat and shootouts are mid.

Act 1 is a chore to get through on replay. There are so many touches they could have added to make it interactive. The Flathead robot mission... why not let us pilot the bot in first-person to do all the tasks, like a stealth minigame? I can think of a few games that let you do something similar. Instead, it is 20 or more steps that are essentially "look at this object and wait."

The best part of the game for me was the middle, where the plot becomes more elaborate, evocative and the relationships with Judy, Panam, Johnny etc develop. But even there the game was navigating me through a seedy open world in order to show me glorified cutscene after cutscene. Then shootouts that were really nothing special.

Witcher 3 was dialogue heavy, nuanced and compelling. It had tedium, but I never felt like the open world was superficial or that the tedium overshadowed the rest of the game. Side tasks like Gwent or contracts were fun and absorbing. The most boring expositional bit was using Witcher sense to explore, but even then at least you were interacting with your surroundings more, not just sitting there being talked at.
