Today's game is Left 4 Dead 2. We found out a friend had a copy, so i got 3 of us together and we all played through the Hard Rain campaign together and had a blast. It was a modded game to really spice things up (and one of my friends is scared of Zombies, so this helps make it playable for them).

I usually play Solo, so that means i play on Easy mode. With 3 people i bumped it up to Normal. Let me tell you, that was a hard difficulty spike. We barely dragged through each level. For example the part where you wait for the lift was particularly tough because we all got wiped. Then as we were scrambling through the field i got pummeled by Hank Hill, One of my other friends were pinned by the Half Life 1 scientist, Coach was dead, and the only one alive accidentally set himself on fire.

Despite that all we had a good time. On the return trip though things were way easier. Maybe the AI director felt sorry for us, but there were way less Zombies and really the only issue was waiting on the boat. I accidentally got stuck on the lip though right as the boat was arriving. I thought i was done for because the boat clipped into me, but nope. It counted as being on the boat. Everyone else made it off pretty successfully. I took the blunt force of the Tank's attacks.

We talked another friend into picking up a copy so maybe if we're lucky we'll be able to snag a full party soon (friend pictured above as i was helping them configure their copy of the game). Having someone who can actually lob grenades would be great.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Leninism, is in fact, Marxism-Leninism, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Marxism plus Leninism. Leninism is not an ideology unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning Marxist ideology made useful by the 『Manifesto』 , 『Capital』 and vital ideology components comprising a full ideology.

Many communists run a modified version of the Marxism ideology every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Marxism which is widely used today is often called Leninism, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the Marxism ideology, developed by Marx and Engels.

There really is a Leninism, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the ideology they use. Leninism is the methodiology: a set of working methods for achieving the goal of communism. The methodiology is an essential part of an ideology, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete ideology. Leninism is normally used in combination with the Marxism ideology: the whole ideology is basically Marxism with Leninism added, or Marxism-Leninism. All the so-called Leninism distributions are really distributions of Marxism-Leninism!

The suspension triggered strong responses across social media and beyond. Hashtags like #CancelDisneyPlus and #CancelHulu trended as users shared screenshots of their canceled subscriptions.

With cancellations surging, many subscribers reported technical issues. On Reddit’s r/Fauxmoi, one post read, “The page to cancel your Hulu/Disney+ subscription keeps crashing.”

I just woke up to all my lights on and my server off. It was a power cut, but... Checking the logs for Proxmox, it seems to have lost memory.. There were no logs for 10 days and when rebooting it said the system clock was off by as much (931,920 seconds = 10.7 days). What do? Anyone seen this before?

Thanks all, gonna replace the CMOS battery as suggested. Got a few in storage. 🖤

A fundraiser for Willow Bay's International Women's Media Foundation, planned to take place at the power couple's Brentwood home next month, may have to relocate after her husband yanks Jimmy Kimmel off the air.

Iger, along with Disney Entertainment chairman Dana Walden, was the Disney exec who pulled the chord on Kimmel’s suspension over on-air comments about Charlie Kirk’s murder — and that decision has prompted a journalism non-profit that Bay (and Iger) have supported for years to consider distancing themselves from the westside power couple. An annual fundraiser for the International Women’s Media Foundation, an organization dedicated to elevating female and non-binary journalists and boasts some of the biggest names in broadcast journalism as board members — CBS’ Norah O’Donnell, NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell, and ABC News’ Kerry Smith, among others — is reconsidering its decision to hold its annual fundraiser at Bay and Iger’s home next month, according to several sources.

I'm trying to set up some iptables rules in both Debian and Ubuntu, but I'm not sure how to make them persistent. As far as I understand the iptables package in the debian and Ubuntu repos is actually iptables-nft meaning I'm actually creating nftables rules, so I'm supposed to use iptables-nft-save to save them instead of using the normal method for iptables or nftables? But that command just seems to produce an output that doesn't match the syntax for iptables or nftables and the man page is not very helpful.

I'm also confused why Ubuntu does seem to have the /etc/iptables/rules.v4 and v6 files but Debian doesn't? Both seem to have /etc/nftables.conf as well but I'm not sure if that's even used (the Ubuntu machine has a bunch of iptables rules already defined which don't show up there but do show up in nft list ruleset)

This is is totally free right now, but claiming it is in a morally grey area. It's also not as simple as adding it to your library, I'll explain how in a sec, though. Anyway, since I figured since it is being shared everywhere, I might as well share it here also.

[The Leviathan's Fantasy] is a Simulation game. You will manage your cloud city, recruit adventurers all over the world, take them for exploration, obtain resources and blueprints. Construct buildings, make equipment, produce items, so to develop your city into greatness together with your adventurers.

I think they want to hide the option somewhat from new customers? Basically the drama with this game is their account got banned for I think steam review manipulation, and they had to re-list the game, which means a ton of people are pissed at them because they spend $30 on an early access game that's been abandoned for an identical version that they then need to re-purchase.

So instead of trying to chase everyone up, I think they're just making it free for anyone who still cares enough about the game to go digging in the community posts for instructions on how to redeem it?

Anyway, to claim it, all you have to do is

  • Add the game to your wishlist

  • Open your wishlist in Steam, and next to the game will be 'add to library'

  • Click that, and its done!

...is the game good? Doesn't look like it, but I know a lot of you here enjoy claiming games regardless.

Reviews are 'Mixed' on Steam, with 113 reviews left so far.

Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, a JRPG, just got released on Steam—and this is a big deal because this game is to PC what Final Fantasy VII was to PlayStation.

You play as Estelle Bright, a stubborn but big-hearted teen, and her adopted brother Joshua, calm and secretive, as they work as junior agents of the Bracer Guild—mercenaries who handle everything from lost pets to bandit raids.

What begins as simple small-town jobs in the idyllic kingdom of Liberl slowly peels back into a slow-burn political thriller about coups, ancient technology, and rival nations circling like sharks. The genius of Trails in the Sky is how it ties everyday people and personal stories into that larger web of conspiracies, making the upheaval feel like it’s your neighbours and your home on the line.

Some history is in order. The two most influential JRPG developers are Square Enix and Nihon Falcom. Square Enix gave us Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy. Nihon Falcom gave us Dragon Slayer and Ys. Square pushed the turn-based JRPG. Falcom’s big innovation was the action JRPG.

Dragon Slayer in particular was groundbreaking—without it, there’s no Zelda, no Hydlide, no Neutopia. It was the template for action RPGs to follow, and it was so successful it spawned spin-offs. One of them was The Legend of Heroes. That series was so successful it spun off again into Trails in the Sky. And yes—Trails itself kept spinning into more games, until it became a saga of its own.

So why haven’t you heard of it? Because Falcom wasn’t console-first like Square. Their heyday was the PC-88 and PC-98—computers that never came west. When Japan switched to Windows, so did Falcom. Trails in the Sky first arrived on Windows in 2004—but only in Japan. A PSP port followed in 2006. Still Japan only. North America finally got it in 2011... on PSP. By then, nobody here was playing PSP anymore.

It wasn’t until 2014 that the Windows version—better than the PSP one—was localized and released on Steam and GOG. It took more than a decade for Westerners to notice. But once they did, they realised this wasn’t just another RPG—this was a landmark.

The comparison to Final Fantasy VII is apt. Trails in the Sky is Falcom’s premiere JRPG. It cemented their reputation for long-form storytelling and kicked off a serialized epic that continues today. And if you think there are a lot of Final Fantasy games, Trails makes it look modest.

The difference is in the type impact each had. Final Fantasy VII was an atomic bomb. Trails in the Sky was a hurricane—starting as a whisper, then building into a storm. Westerners know the sequels like Trails of Cold Steel and Trails from Zero, but how many ever went back to the original?

Now they can. Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter is a re-imagining of that first game. And “re-imagining” is exactly the right word. Same story, not a simple remake.

What’s new? A lot. The original was purely turn-based. This version lets you switch on the fly between the classic grid system and a new real-time action mode. Combat feels fluid and layered, and Falcom themselves estimate about 80 hours to clear—double the original’s runtime—thanks to extra quests and expanded exploration.

The graphics are completely redone. The old game was 2.5D isometric sprites—think Diablo with anime characters. The new one is full 3D, third-person, HDR-enabled, yet still faithful. Rolent, the first town, looks like you remember, just rebuilt in polygons.

Sound has levelled up. Fully animated cutscenes. Professional actors in both Japanese and English. Steam even lists French, German, and Spanish text, though only English and Japanese get full voice tracks. Most importantly, Falcom’s iconic music is intact—because unlike too many remakes, they didn’t dare mess with perfection.

Controls are flexible. The devs push gamepads, but keyboard and mouse works beautifully. Xbox and PlayStation controllers are supported natively, and thanks to Steam Input, just about anything—Logitech, 8BitDo, you name it—will work.

Steam officially says Windows-only and lists Deck support as “unknown.” But previews already note it runs smooth on Deck, looks gorgeous on OLED screens, and will almost certainly get the “Verified” badge. I tested it myself on Linux—it’s flawless.

Specs are reasonable: Ryzen 5 1600, 8GB RAM, GTX 1050, and 33GB storage will net you 60fps at 1080p.

The price is steep—C$77.99. Steam also launched it with a pile of optional DLC: costumes, boosters, items. Normally I’d balk at paying that much. But this is Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter—rebuilt so a new generation can see why it’s legendary. And if that’s still too much, the 2014 version is cheap: C$21.99 on Steam, or just C$11.00 on GOG.

Reception so far is glowing. Steam already shows a 96% positive rating across 233 reviews. Players love the balance of modern upgrades with old-school heart.

Either way—whether you buy today’s re-imagining or grab the older version—you owe it to yourself to play Trails in the Sky. Because if you care about JRPGs, even a little, this is the one you don’t skip.

Back again with another request for help.

I'm trying to set up Tailscale, with the ultimate goal of having a relatively simple way to access all my self hosted services when I'm not at home. My (naive) assumption was that once my device was in I connected to my home network by using my server as an exit node, I could just go to my 196.x.x.x:port address or friendly service.mydomain.xyz url and access things that way. That isn't happening.

I'm running Tailscale in Docker and have Nginx Proxy Manager routing my friendly names to the right place. My services are all run in Docker as well, and most are set up as Proxy Hosts in NPM except one that I added more recently to see if I could access it/if NPM was the issue.

I have set up Tailscale both on my server and phone, I'm able to connect to my server as an exit node, but I don't seem to be able to connect to services on the server. Tailscale is set to use subnets (added TS_ROUTES=192.168.0.0/24 to my compose file), but on my Tailscale Machines tab there is an exclamation mark next to both the Subnets and Exit Node saying the machine is misconfigured and that I need to enable IP forwarding. I double checked, it is enabled (as I understand it, that must be true for docker containers to forward from their 172.x.x.x addresses to 192), but the warning persists and I can't access services (either by the friendly URL, normal IP, tailscale URL, or 100.x.x.x IP).

This is my compose file: services: tailscale-authkey1: image: tailscale/tailscale:latest hostname: myhost environment: - TS_AUTHKEY=xx - TS_STATE_DIR=/var/lib/tailscale - TS_USERSPACE=false - TS_EXTRA_ARGS=--advertise-exit-node,--accept-routes - TS_ROUTES=192.168.0.0/24 volumes: - ts-authkey-test:/var/lib/tailscale - /dev/net/tun:/dev/net/tun cap_add: - NET_ADMIN - SYS_MODULE restart: unless-stopped nginx-authkey-test: image: nginx network_mode: service:tailscale-authkey1

I'm not sure what I should do - I'm seeing this page (https://tailscale.com/kb/1406/quick-guide-subnets) that talks about creating a config file, but that's clearly if you're running on bare metal. I've also looked at their options for running a sidecar (https://tailscale.com/kb/1282/docker), where each service is spun up as a separate TS machine, but that's way more work than I want to do (seems like cloudflare tunnels might be simpler at that point).

Thanks for any help!
