Wasn't there some legal case going on that could rule Youtube downloaders illegal as consequence? Feels like the two moves compliment each other, and with so many complimentary coincidences going on recently, it sounds ever more like the saying that goes like, when coincidences are too frequent, chances are they aren't.

Right now the FCC is under their control, but may IR may not be after mid-terms. So they're trying to do as much damage to competition as possible right now.

I don't see how the FCC would be any less under the control of the current administration after midterms. Control of it won't be changing until the next executive is elected.

The Senate has to confirm, so when their term is up, they could refuse to confirm commissioners that are owned by the content industry.
