Having had no previous history of mental illness, Biesma was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. But this never felt right to him: signs of the condition normally surface much earlier in life.

this sounds like a cope. Like sure, AI fueled his bpd but imo it was likely already there to some extend

Bipolar disorder isn't called BPD; it's called BD. BPD means borderline personality disorder.
