(On a more serious note, if this is happening to you then you're not following the instructions to clean the device and replace the filter once a month.)

Yeah, because I'm doing it more frequently. I think it's the design of this particular one. I've seen other comments say the same thing (on a video about how to clean it thoroughly, disassembling pump and everything).

Indirectly through curtains, but yes. Unfortunately (for this specific case) that's basically unavoidable in my apartment.
