As an atheist, I'd agree. I assume they mean those that ate part of an active religion. Rather than historical myths, like Zeus.
It's still nonsense, though.
All the "gods" routinely get made fun of, criticized, etc. It's not unique to whatever this god is. People twist religion or religious traditions for humor, as a thought experiment, because they think it makes their story more interesting, etc all the time.
Nonsense or not,. It can be seen as punching down when mocking a smaller religion without the wider context. That could be offensive to many people.
They're wrong and their position is not valid.
If they're offended they can fuck off. People are entitled to mock and criticize any bad belief.
They're not mocking the religion tho, they're using it as part of their game but removing the melanin. It's whitewashing basically, that's what they're upset about. It's really only tangentially related to religion
