I love it when U.S. americans word stuff like the U.S. was the whole world...

It's a quote from the movie

This meme is pretty stupid

[–] distantsounds@lemmy.world 10 points 7 months ago

to be fair, I am pretty stupid

How many fucking times do I have to explain it?

No one knows your chosen third party candidate exists, and unless you want to become their campaign manager that will still be true in November. Even if you did, they still wouldn't win.

In the last election, Biden got 50% of the popular vote, and Trump got 45%. Say for the sake of argument that if nothing else happens, 2024 will have the exact same spread. Suppose you're the best campaign manager ever and manage to convince 2/3 of the people who would have voted for Biden, plus everyone who was going to vote third party, to vote for your candidate instead. (Given the current state of money in politics I should not need to explain why this is infeasible, but suppose it is.) Congratulations! Your candidate now has 37% of the nationwide vote. Unfortunately, that's not good enough, because Trump's voter base, who care not for your leftist policies, still gave 45% of the vote to him, and he wins the election.

All voting third party instead of Biden does is make it more likely that Trump will win.

You seem to think you’re explaining, over and over, how voting works to people who don’t know how voting works, but they do know. You’re enlightening no one.

[–] AVincentInSpace@pawb.social 6 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I have demonstrated that voting third party is inviting a Trump victory, yet these people who supposedly already understand everything I say insist that this is not the case. What's not clicking?

[–] xor@infosec.pub 4 points 7 months ago (1 children)

what's not clicking is that half of the "people" trying super hard to make biden into the antichrist actually do want trump to win and are arguing disingenuously.

the time to complain about biden was the last three years, the time to complain about trump is now.

if their only political opinion is about how bad biden really is... and they never talk about trump, russia or ukraine...
then it's a duck

Are these bots in the room with us now? https://lemmy.ml/comment/9279492

[–] xor@infosec.pub 3 points 7 months ago (1 children)

judging by your wall of sources, pretending like they're related to what i'm actually saying, it appears that you are indeed in the room...

also, you're a sea lion

[–] davel@lemmy.ml -1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

They’re all related to your BlueAnon conspiracy theory about Russian bots, which you didn’t explicitly state but clearly meant to imply.

[–] xor@infosec.pub 0 points 7 months ago (1 children)

nope, i'm not blue, not blueanon...
not implying what you pretend you think i'm implying...
you're deliberately fighting a strawman

[–] davel@lemmy.ml 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

half of the “people”

Why are people in quotes? Because you mean bots, meaning paid shills and/or software “arguing disingenuously,” and not regular people posting earnestly/organically.

if their only political opinion is about how bad biden really is… and they never talk about trump, russia or ukraine… then it’s a duck

What “duck” are you alluding to? Russian bots.

[–] AVincentInSpace@pawb.social 0 points 7 months ago

why wouldn't russian bots talk about russia?

they're pure blooded american trump supporters arguing in bad faith, simple as

A reminder that the recurring joke in this movie is that Walter is always right, maybe with the exception of thinking Mr. Lebowski faking his disability, but for everything else he never really slips. As The Dude says, "You're not wrong Walter, you're just an asshole".

Smokey was over the line, and this is a league game, so the results matter.

If you care about any of the things in this meme, and you're urging people to vote against Biden, you're going to have a bad time if you get your way.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago (1 children)

It's really only the posts that are like: "I just cannot support genocide joe! If you vote for him you want to eat Palestinian babies!" that get this reaction.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 6 points 7 months ago (3 children)

What horseshit.

"Biden should not be supporting genocide" is sufficient to get you called a Russian Chinese Republican trumpist tankie child shill bot right here on lemmy.

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago (1 children)

No, that is quite the normal take. I've seen the users you're talking about and people like return2ozma always get downvoted because they say shit like "We need a new candidate right now! We cannot go through with the election of Genocide Joe!" When that will obviously just allow Trump to build his throne. Besides, that is the general consensus in real life anyway. That's why the uncomitted movement is a cool way to protest it.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

No, that is quite the normal take.

In response to that take, I've been called a Russian, Chinese, a tankie, a trumpist, a child, a shill, a bot, a Republican, a moron, and probably a few others I'm forgetting. What conclusion am I to draw about those who are so upset that someone suggested that Biden should stop supporting genocide?

The one I draw is that they support genocide and don't want him to stop.

[–] eltimablo@kbin.social 2 points 7 months ago

Opening your mouth about any topic is how you get called that on Lemmy. Its community will mercifully ensure its own downfall.

[–] wildbus8979@sh.itjust.works 0 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

What you don't like that Biden is singlehandedly responsible for worsening the student loan crisis, sky rocketing incarceration rates, and first to introduce what would become the Patriot act? Go back to China tankie, see how the incarceration rate is there!

[–] Facebones@reddthat.com 0 points 7 months ago

Democrats think I care, the country is already gone and our govt is already fascist when the only defense Biden simps have is "Yeah Biden does it but Trump will do it MORE"

Never mind, as well illustrated in these comments, that dem voters openly embrace fascist tactics against anybody left of genocide Joe.

People act like voting the lesser evil for 50 years somehow didn't make us less evil but there's no mainline option that isn't genocidal and anti-camp. Sounds pretty evil to me. So yeah, ima vote for somebody with zero genocidal inclinations. Thanks.

[–] riodoro1@lemmy.world 0 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

Yeah, this shit is getting boring.

Even if trump doesn’t win your country and its society are so unbelievably fucked you’re not getting out of this pickle. Voting for another patch of presidency which will not change anything fundamental about your country is just delaying the inevitable. The US has already fallen. Now shut up and eat your dictatorship. Thats what oligarchy usually ends up as.
