What? I can’t hear you over that airplane.

Did you work on one of those, because it's pretty silent, fans at around 13-15% when using the right drives
I moved up to G8s a while back. 3 DL360G8 for ESXi hosts, and a DL380G8 for TrueNAS SAN host. Downgraded one of the old ESXi hosts (360G7) to backup server. With 5 servers running, it's not quiet. One running isn't that loud, but I wouldn't want it on a common space still :)
Have you installed the fan controller hacked firmware on those?
Plus, 360 are 1u right? So it's a bit more noizy yeah
I did not change the systems in anyway other than any HP firmware updates I could get to most current.
360 is dual socket 1U. 380 is dual socket 2U. 580 is quad socket 4U
Just be cautious that the HP backplane can sometimes reject non-hp drives at random with a sensor error for a sensor that doesn't exist...
Yeah, I tested some SATA hard drive and it seems to ramp up the fans... compared to when I use the included SAS drives which is pretty silent.
Mine rejected sata ssds with something like sensor 41 overheating but that sensor doesn't exist...
Was there a message somewhere ? On ilo? Where did you find out about this sensors?
The server refused to boot and the ILO logs reported the error. It's a false sensor 31.
Oh wow, yeah weird, my server boot fine with sata and sas hdd (even when mixed) and there are no errors, maybe you got a really weird or broken sata drive? or maybe I got lucky with my drives ?
Mine worked for months and then one day just never worked again. I have 6 of them as a test cluster for work, only 4 ever went weird. All the same drives, bios etc etc
I can hear this picture.
