What's going on in Bangladesh? First I've heard of anything going on.

From the article:

Internet services in Bangladesh were shut on July 18 following violent clashes between the police and student groups. The students have been protesting a new policy that reserves a portion of government jobs for descendants of the country’s 1971 war veterans, who are predominantly supporters of the ruling party led by Sheikh Hasina. At least 110 people have been reported dead and thousands injured.

I read it the article, but why did the government pass something like that? They had to realize that there would be substantial pushback. And what's with all of the violence? 110 deaths is absolutely insane.

I don't think they care about pushback. All they want is power... and those sweet tax dollars.

because nepo babies demanded preferential treatment and the regime had to provide it to them to maintain their base of power.

we got same thing happening in the US, Americans are just too brain dead to even ID this issue although they recently found that their favourite celebrities are actually crotch fruit of their parent's favourite celebrities. Good for you GenZ!!!! Seems like they are not as much into bootlicking as older people are haha

wait until they find out about politics, finance and law or that their favourite billionaire daddy is NOT a "self made business man" 🤡

Look at the silver lining. At least their computers must have escaped the recent windows BSOD.
