Wow he's facing 48 years in prison for distributing some ones and zeros on the internet. A DEA agent recently ran over and killed a mother riding her bicycle near me after running a stop sign to catch up to his buddies and the courts ruled that he's immune from being held liable for his actions.

Funny how justice works in the US.

It's not just the US, trust me. One horribly true fact of life is justice only works for those who can afford it.

Law is not Justice

Dismissing something just because it's digital is pretty stupid.

I think the sentence is very extreme but there are a LOT of crimes and maybe serious ones that can be summed up to "did stuff with ones and zeros".

While that's true, this ain't really one of them. I don't really support for profit piracy, but when juxtaposed against negligently taking a life, it's insane to see the disparity between the punishments.

Police and courts exist to serve the state's interests, not the interests of that state's citizens. Those interests can diverge a great deal. Doesn't change in a democracy, it's just not about us.
