i will always say this, but these protests are the perfect time to organize your leftist friends to dress in red hammer and sickles and go talk to the libs.

Dj Putler, in civilized times public discontent traditionally goes through the stages of escalation, starting with legal protests, then expanding to strikes, political actions, and further down the rabbit hole.

All those stages are meant to give another side a chance to deescalate the situation by listening the protesting side and adjusting behavior.

If the wheel in the car got broken, you don't burn the car immediately, you first give the wheel a chance to return back into serving their own people, and only after that you burn the car.

Does watching schoolchildren (or children who no longer have schools, or infants) be consumed by flames, lacerated by shrapnel, and crushed with rubble make you feel like you're living in a civilized time? As long as you can go to SStarbucKKKs after the "protest" I guess. Make sure nobody gets hurt marching sweetie

It is shocking to me that white USAmericans think that you are 1) Civilized and not 2) Way passed that

Your evil settler genocide state must burn. Death to America

These aren't civilised times. The US is committing genocide

[–] optissima@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 week ago

The US has been committing genocide for its entire lifetime.

If the wheel in the car got broken, you don’t burn the car immediately, you first give the wheel a chance to return back into serving their own people, and only after that you burn the car.

I think you would noticed the car is a rotten, rusty wreck standing on bricks and the supposed repairmen are partying with the car thieves, after few decades of it.

I mean… it probably makes it easier to get the required permits 😔

[–] mistermodal@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Let me get this straight: you're waiting for permission to loaf around with old people and evil zillenials during a genocide?

[–] DataCrime@lemmy.dbzer0.com -4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Uhhhh… no, but protesting is definitely more fun with friends. I keep hitting all 3 of mine up and nobody wants to go.

Honestly whose comment were you trying to reply to? At issue here was the question of why not to call it a “no kings protest” and… fuck it. See you at the next one even remotely close to San Jose.

[–] mistermodal@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Okay. I hope you have fun during the genocide you're complicit in 👍

Buuuuudy… if I thought I could get the shot in. And before you bother getting off that high horse, no I don’t own a gun.

These organizations are sitting ducks, you should have made plans to leave years ago! That's their role, convince foreigners that Americans will revert back to FDR-style imperialism and somehow reform that, like their grandfather orgs WWP and CPUSA etc. promised. I don't make demands for people to perform fruitless symbolic actions. It's "make noise with signs" or "make noise with guns" and it's all completely disorganized.

Do you understand in 20 years children there will have no prospects? They're not online yet so you can't have online beef with them yet

[–] DataCrime@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I mean… honestly I have been intending to make those plans so years… so that’s on me 😝 Like literally pops is a German immigrant, I could have citizenship there, but it took a friend 8 years.

But part of me always comes back to the USA being my home, not something to be abandoned when shit gets rough. I don’t really consider myself politically motivated or minded, I didn’t vote for most of my life… nor does it really matter with the electoral college in my particular zip code. And somehow nothing local that really matters to me or has any bearing on my quality of life ever seem to make it on the ballot.

Maybe going to a protest is pointless, maybe it’s not. Maybe the point is not what changes on the ground but how we are perceived by the world at large.

Lastly… it seems less risky than anarchy or “direct action.”

Granted I am already a terrorist for thinking, seditious thoughts while duceing it out yesterday morning… but I’ll try the protest first 😅

In any case you should join (or build) an org that aligns with your goals. There is not much we can do alone. Friends sadly are not a reliable source of revolutionaries but being organized might even convince some.

[–] DataCrime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah… that’s kind of what I’m saying though… if I go full out revolutionary, I’m probably not gonna trust anybody to have my back… and not belabor the point, but if this country goes to totalitarian, I’m going revolutionary.

[–] RiverRock@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That nice thing is that friends may not be a good source of revolutionaries, but revolutionaries tend to be a good source of friends

[–] DataCrime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago

That brings a smile to my face. Thanks:-)
