Hello everyone, I’m fairly new to Proxmox and struggling with my homelab setup. I have two machines running Proxmox 9: an HP EliteDesk 800 G5 Mini (Core i7-9700) and a Dell OptiPlex 7070 Micro (Core i3 9th gen). I’m running into several issues and would appreciate your insights.

  1. Networking Issue on EliteDesk: I have two VMs (both Ubuntu Server 24.04 LTS) on the same bridge. If I stop or shut down one VM, the other loses internet connectivity. Local access to applications still works. Any ideas on why the bridge is behaving this way?

  2. Backup Setup on OptiPlex: I’m running a Proxmox Backup Server VM with Backblaze B2 as an S3 datastore. This is working fine so far.

  3. Backup Problems on EliteDesk: I’m using default LVM-thin for VMs. Backups take a very long time and often freeze at 1-2%. Shutting down the VM cleanly afterward is nearly impossible. I’ve tried both Stop and Snapshot modes, but the issue persists. When a VM becomes unresponsive, it triggers the networking issue above. Would switching to ZFS help? If so, how can I migrate without losing any data?

  4. Hardware Acceleration for Jellyfin: On the EliteDesk, I’d like to enable hardware acceleration for a VM running Jellyfin (in Docker) using the i7-9700’s UHD 630 iGPU. Can anyone recommend a clear guide specific to this CPU? The Proxmox documentation isn’t very detailed for Intel GPUs.

The networking issue is the most frustrating. Has anyone encountered similar bridge problems? Any advice on fixes or next steps would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi guys, I am searching for foss a self hosted solution for a family archive. The idea is to have some kind of wiki with articles for ancestors. Additionally there should be the possibility to store a lot of media (photos) with annotations (descriptions for parts of the image). Some kind of family tree would be cool as well but is not necessary. Offline acces would be cool as well but is also not necessary. In the end the software has to be able to handle a few hundred gigs of media.

I would love to get some recommendations.

Is there any shooter that meets those criteria?

  • Enemies are just soldiers/rebels/gang members/humans?
  • Somewhat longer TTK
  • Ideally some deep gunplay like Planetside 2 (recoil patterns, bullet travel, CoF, etc)
  • Ideally some rng or replay value (roguelite, random encounters, etc.)
  • Not online only

I just want to launch a game and fight after work, master guns and ideally unlock shit if that's not asking for too much. I used to get that in Planetside 2, but in my timezone, it's not an option and I'm offline a lot. Closest I found is:

  • F.E.A.R. (replayed the story over and over, but the guns feel pretty bad compared to modern games)
  • Robocop (LOVE the gunplay and locational damage, but the downtime is killing me at this point)
  • Brink (best example I guess...)
  • Blacklight Retribution against bots
  • Some CoD games like BO2
  • Maximum Action
  • Shadow Warrior 2 (some maps have a handful of humans but it's mainly monsters)
  • RoboQuest (my main squeeze atm, but it's robots without blood)
  • Rico
  • RS Siege Terrorist Hunt
  • Payday 2 (IF it was possible to have longer ttk and much fewer cops)
  • CS & Insurgency with bots (but low ttk is kind of boring to me)

Thanks!

Today's game is Left 4 Dead 2. We found out a friend had a copy, so i got 3 of us together and we all played through the Hard Rain campaign together and had a blast. It was a modded game to really spice things up (and one of my friends is scared of Zombies, so this helps make it playable for them).

I usually play Solo, so that means i play on Easy mode. With 3 people i bumped it up to Normal. Let me tell you, that was a hard difficulty spike. We barely dragged through each level. For example the part where you wait for the lift was particularly tough because we all got wiped. Then as we were scrambling through the field i got pummeled by Hank Hill, One of my other friends were pinned by the Half Life 1 scientist, Coach was dead, and the only one alive accidentally set himself on fire.

Despite that all we had a good time. On the return trip though things were way easier. Maybe the AI director felt sorry for us, but there were way less Zombies and really the only issue was waiting on the boat. I accidentally got stuck on the lip though right as the boat was arriving. I thought i was done for because the boat clipped into me, but nope. It counted as being on the boat. Everyone else made it off pretty successfully. I took the blunt force of the Tank's attacks.

We talked another friend into picking up a copy so maybe if we're lucky we'll be able to snag a full party soon (friend pictured above as i was helping them configure their copy of the game). Having someone who can actually lob grenades would be great.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Leninism, is in fact, Marxism-Leninism, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Marxism plus Leninism. Leninism is not an ideology unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning Marxist ideology made useful by the 『Manifesto』 , 『Capital』 and vital ideology components comprising a full ideology.

Many communists run a modified version of the Marxism ideology every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Marxism which is widely used today is often called Leninism, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the Marxism ideology, developed by Marx and Engels.

There really is a Leninism, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the ideology they use. Leninism is the methodiology: a set of working methods for achieving the goal of communism. The methodiology is an essential part of an ideology, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete ideology. Leninism is normally used in combination with the Marxism ideology: the whole ideology is basically Marxism with Leninism added, or Marxism-Leninism. All the so-called Leninism distributions are really distributions of Marxism-Leninism!

The suspension triggered strong responses across social media and beyond. Hashtags like #CancelDisneyPlus and #CancelHulu trended as users shared screenshots of their canceled subscriptions.

With cancellations surging, many subscribers reported technical issues. On Reddit’s r/Fauxmoi, one post read, “The page to cancel your Hulu/Disney+ subscription keeps crashing.”

I just woke up to all my lights on and my server off. It was a power cut, but... Checking the logs for Proxmox, it seems to have lost memory.. There were no logs for 10 days and when rebooting it said the system clock was off by as much (931,920 seconds = 10.7 days). What do? Anyone seen this before?

Thanks all, gonna replace the CMOS battery as suggested. Got a few in storage. 🖤

A fundraiser for Willow Bay's International Women's Media Foundation, planned to take place at the power couple's Brentwood home next month, may have to relocate after her husband yanks Jimmy Kimmel off the air.

Iger, along with Disney Entertainment chairman Dana Walden, was the Disney exec who pulled the chord on Kimmel’s suspension over on-air comments about Charlie Kirk’s murder — and that decision has prompted a journalism non-profit that Bay (and Iger) have supported for years to consider distancing themselves from the westside power couple. An annual fundraiser for the International Women’s Media Foundation, an organization dedicated to elevating female and non-binary journalists and boasts some of the biggest names in broadcast journalism as board members — CBS’ Norah O’Donnell, NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell, and ABC News’ Kerry Smith, among others — is reconsidering its decision to hold its annual fundraiser at Bay and Iger’s home next month, according to several sources.
