There's a similar story of the sorts with "libertarian" ideology (a word stolen from French Anarchists - who were without a doubt leftists). Milton Friedman was paid by the oil industry to come up with it, and they peddled it through the Real Estate Association of America.

The worst thing that ever happened to America was that Perot's third party shit became libertarian shit. If Nader and Perot as very smart men in 1980-something knowing what we'd be by now worked out a REAL plan for '92...
