DisplayPort is the better product but has lost out to HDMI. I’d be fine if it was discontinued.
The history of tech is littered with superior standards but in this case go look at any video card. We haven't lost out just yet.
Look at every laptop?
I'm not saying it's good, but all I see on modern laptops is USB-C ports.
Which, incidentally, can carry displayport.
And very few carry HDMI, because for some strange odd reason hdmi alt-mode is weirdly rare still....
It's almost like companies don't want to pay extra money on every device for a feature the vast majority of consumers would never use... good thing DisplayPort is free, or we'd get neither.
Yeah, my laptop has a USB-C port with DisplayPort support. And it supports up to 4K @ 60fps where the HDMI port only supports up to 4K @ 24 fps. HDMI can suck dick.
