From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Next Proton if they enable full Wayland support

So hyped for this

they stripped it out for proton 9, I hope they leave it in this time

Upstream WINE enabled it by default in version 10, so I can't imagine Valve wanting to strip that out. Knowing Valve, they probably helped out a decent amount with that support.

The Wayland driver wasn't considered stable in version 9.

You can right now if you use WINE instead of Proton. Just unset the DISPLAY variable with "DISPLAY="

What does this mean for end users? Perf gains? I cant really tell that my game is being scoped rn..

I don’t think it should have a significant effect on performance. On the other hand gamescope is broken on my system right now. There are probably plus and minuses of both.

Ah okay, so more ways of doing things in case gamescope is broken, nice!

Gamescope is so unreliable, doesn't work properly with Hunt 1896
