Today's game is some more Minecraft Xbox 360 edition. I decided today to go mining and dove head first into the cave right outside my home

It turns out it all leads entirely to dead ends though. I did find the neat cavern in the screenshot above which i kind of want too turn into a nether portal chamber when i finally find diamonds. It's crazy how rare diamonds used to be. Modern Minecraft really has spoiled me lol. I feel like i can get a diamond by the end of the first day sometimes. Here i feel like i really have to search.

Another thing about this is that i've found an appreciation for is what i have started calling the art of "do". I noticed i have been Meta-Gaming a lot when i play minecraft to the point i'm more obsessed with how to effectively do something rather than enjoying doing it. So instead i will just "do" the thing. No consideration for math or optimizing it or even stopping and constantly checking to see if it looks good.

Take my treehouse for example, i just cut down a tree, built a staircase, and built a room at the top of the staircase. Later i said "i want a window" and impulsively added a window. I guess in summary it's just very much me being impulsive with very little to no planning outside very broad ideas (though i guess now that i'm describing this there's a lot of holes in it lol). I'll also add this isn't me condemning people who do think these things through in depth, this is just a way that i've found for me to more personally enjoy these. Cutting Meta-Gaming out in general has made me start enjoying games a lot more.

Going back to the cave, i found another one nearby which i decided to mine in. It was buried under a ton of trees but on my way out i used torches to mark the entrance. I started to clear the trees too but ran out of food and wanted to get mining out of the way first.

Initial prospects were good. Tons of iron and coal was in the main tunnel which i collected. I was going to go deeper but there was a skeleton and i had lost my iron sword at some point. I back tracked and went home, slept, and made a new one.

I returned and slew the skeleton that had attacked me. It dropped it's bones, so maybe i'll get a wolf at some point or something. A creeper also helped defeat it by blowing it up but sadly it didnt drop gunpowder.

Going further down i discovered a ton more coal which i promptly mined. I stopped here momentarily to replace my pickaxe so i could mine more stuff because it was starting to run low. Luckily i had some wood on me to make a table and some sticks. I didn't end up going to much deeper though because i ran out of torches and didn't want to use up all my coal, so i turned around and headed home.

On my way back i stopped by my farm before logging off for the day. Everything is growing well. Maybe next time i play i can get my first full harvest and start the second one along with maybe expanding it. I have some meat saved it up to eat so i think i could afford to spend a harvest to expand it.

I should get into Minecraft again. You all are inspiring me to play some more calm games with these posts and comments.

I highly recommend playing with a mod pack on a return playthrough. You can still do all of the vanilla stuff, but the experience is also expanded upon with things like steam quarries, programmable mining bots, digitized wireless storage, blood magic, dimensional travel, and cozy kitchens with in-depth cooking.

I used to dive pretty hard into Feed The Beast, but All The Mods seems to have taken over it. The big thing with these packs is making all the mods play nice with each other, so they can share resources and be cross compatible.

I recall one pack where the world was a wasteland. All the ores were depleted, and the oceans were toxic. You had to figure out how to try to grow crops, make survival gear to explore, and eventually make mystical crops that could produce tiny bits of ores that you could harvest.

I never even made it to the End though. Haven't played in about 10 years so this will be vanilla. There's enough new stuff to discover to last me years if I even get into it at all.

You should do it! It’s a good time. I’d recommend Prism Launcher if you’re doing mods (or playing on Linux).

If you’re looking for a legacy console experience though you can do the 4J Modpack on Java (I’ve heard good things about it) or run it through Xenia, RPCS3, or CEMU.

Most if not all version of Minecraft can be played. I think the only one I haven’t been able to play is Bedrock edition PC and that’s only because it needs windows 10/11 and I use Linux.

I will be playing Linux vanilla Minecraft if anything, I believe. I haven't played in probably 10 years, so the basic experience will be plenty new for me as it is. 😅

Probably the best route to go down lol. Super simple to setup

☺️ Just gotta get my old pal to get on board that I used to play with. Might be hard... Or just go solo. Not as fun but could be peaceful.
