I mean, I understand that this is a metaphor for some instance of "someone thinks x should have y, and is dumb," but I have no idea what specific instance it's trying to poke fun at.

Apply liberally. Bought a video game and expected a feature not common in the genre or the developer's history? Watched a movie but had no idea what the director's style is? Bought a smartphone and wanted features that brand has never had (or maybe the industry has moved away from)? Bought motion cameras but didn't realize you couldn't just watch the clips they record unless you buy their stupid cloud service...

That last one is me ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ
