They are "thriving" because of layoffs, there is no more direct path to increase profits than to stop paying employees
Yeah the headline doesn't make sense. They pay less salaries, how is that a bad thing for profits... :)
They hired too many people when money was cheap. Now they get rid of some of them. It's still just like a few percent of the total work force.
