Well that makes sense since marketing's only job is to build hype, hence expectations, so people buy the stuff. C.f. No Man's Sky and the resulting disappointment. Or Peter Molyneux's entire career (pretty much). If you make claims and build expectations then it should be no surprise that you end up being judged on those even more than actual, objectively viewed quality.
