This community is focused on games, of all kinds. Any news item or discussion should be related to gaming in some way.
2. No bigotry or harassment, be civil
No bigotry, hardline stance. Try not to get too heated when entering into a discussion or debate.
We are here to talk and discuss about one of our passions, not fight or be exposed to hate. Posts or responses that are hateful will be deleted to keep the atmosphere good. If repeatedly violated, not only will the comment be deleted but a ban will be handed out as well. We judge each case individually.
3. No excessive self-promotion
Try to keep it to 10% self-promotion / 90% other stuff in your post history.
This is to prevent people from posting for the sole purpose of promoting their own website or social media account.
4. Stay on-topic; no memes, funny videos, giveaways, reposts, or low-effort posts
This community is mostly for discussion and news. Remember to search for the thing you're submitting before posting to see if it's already been posted.
We want to keep the quality of posts high. Therefore, memes, funny videos, low-effort posts and reposts are not allowed. We prohibit giveaways because we cannot be sure that the person holding the giveaway will actually do what they promise.
5. Mark Spoilers and NSFW
Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.
No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.
6. No linking to piracy
Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.
We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

If you think racist talk by private citizens doesn't spread racist and bigoted ideas, then you're not worth talking too.
That's one of the dumbest and nonsensical things I've ever heard anyone say. I'm genuinely flabbergasted that a functional adult could believe something so ridiculously and obviously idiotic.
You really think people like Andrew Tate or Ben Shapiro have zero role in spreading racist and bigoted ideals ? Fucking really ? Ya think Fox News has never convinced anyone of bigoted shit ? Ya think Alex Jones didn't make people call in DEATH THREATS to the parents of murdered children ?
Incel forums have literally motivated mass shooters, you gonna tell me those incel forums were government run, or what ?
But yeah, sure. Racist and bigoted talk outside of government institutions is totally inconsequential.

It absolutely isn't doing much, because those ideas aren't spreading in a vacuum. They're spreading in competition with the sensible view of equality, which is winning simply because it's the only thing that really makes sense. Good ideas consistently win against bad ideas absent a strong force standing behind the bad idea; and it's really hard to find a stronger force than government.
In the U.S., racism is on the decline not due to government mandate. Racism is on the decline because in the 1960s the government stopped endorsing a particular race as superior. We don't need the government mandating anti- racism and how the population treat each other; we just need the government to treat everyone equally and the problem of racism will continue to decrease.
Have you seen the fucking world lately my dude? Far right racist parties are gaining support in almost every western country. These ideas are GAINING right now, not losing, and in massive parts due to private companies engagement driven algorithms driving users to more and more radical content. Young white men are getting more and more conservative. That's a fact. And who the fuck do you think keeps electing racist and bigoted politicians, genius ?
How the fuck do you think someone like Ron DeSantis can win an election, if bigotry and racism is apparently on the decline ? How come far right racist parties like the GOP in the US, or reform in the UK or the AfD in Germany keep polling higher every new election cycle, if these ideas are supposedly on the decline ?
How come right wing politically motivated violence is increasing almost everywhere if these views are so self defeating ?

You're being sensational. The world is more at peace right now then most of its past; there isn't a better time to be alive. Racism is at an all time low in America.
