Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

YES!!!! Pretty much anyone interested knew that unofficially, we would be getting initial Wayland support by XFCE 4.20 later this year, but seeing it confirmed makes me very happy! 2024 is shaping up to be the year of Wayland, part 1, and 2025 to be the Year of Wayland, part 2.
Maybe I'm overlooking something but where in https://wiki.xfce.org/releng/4.20/roadmap did you see a 2024 confirmation?
I remember it being mentioned somewhere (not sure where anymore, it was quite a while ago) that they are aiming for a release of 4.20 around the end of 2024. It's possible I misunderstood a prediction, or am misremembering information, or both, but that's what I remember
So your "seeing it confirmed" statement was not about seeing it confirmed in the submission you made a comment about?
Yeah, it was from another source that I can no longer recall.
Edit: There is this article here, but they don't seem to cite a source for the release date: https://9to5linux.com/xfce-4-20-desktop-environment-will-finally-bring-wayland-support
So your initial comment is at best misleading, at worst misinformation.
