If you claim to be a Christian but deny the doctrine of Papal Infallibility, you are not Catholic; you are what they call schismatic.
A key distinction between terms here is that while Catholics are probably the largest single Christian group in the US, a larger Christian percentage belongs to various Protestant groups. They already don't care about the pope and think Catholics are wrong
Not all statements by the pope are regarded as infallible by Catholics. In fact, invoking infallibility is very rare. However Leo's statements on the Iran War are very clearly in line with Catholic doctrine.
