Today’s game is KLETKA. I will admit that this was entirely an impulse buy. I saw it on sale for 5$, and scooped up 4 copies for me and my friends. I was a little hesitant that it’d just be something like Lethal Company all over again, but surprisingly it feels a little different.

Namely I feel like fighting back is not only viable, but encouraged. The game straight up throws a Gun at you and says “hey. Kill some shit to feed the elevator”. It’s kind of refreshing to have self defense as an option when games of this genre usually rely on feeling defenseless to instill terror.

This game throws a lot of weapons at you too. If your friend dies you can legit scoop up their leg and use it as a weapon to club things to death with. I always hold onto my friend’s legs to use for defense. On top of that, need to feed the elevator? Throw their little meat chunks in there and all is good for a bit

The levels are interesting too. They have some unique quirks to them like one was anti gravity, or another had the player crouch to get around. And that introduces another element: each player has a different size. So you’re not always going to be of use. That’s kind of how I feel like this game makes the player feel helpless. You have to trust your friends (or teammates if you play with randoms) to get the job done. In a way I think that’s interesting.

Me and my friends got 30 floors down before stopping. We have no idea how far this goes but I really want to see how far we can push it. It’s an interesting idea and the lore hooked me with its orbiting of the elevator we ride in. Tomorrow I’d like to do some more and gather a more well researched opinion on it. As 30 floors in this game are only like 5 levels

I haven't played it myself, but KLETKA is similar to Lethal Company or R.E.P.O.

Not sure what genre they're considered to be, but I've sometimes heard them referred to as "friendslop", although the term seems overbroad.
