One of the things that has long stood out to me shared between liberalism and fascism is their utter inability to acknowledge and contend with the issues raised by conflict between the classes, especially to favour the proletariat. On this matter in particular, they are the same. Thus zionism merges happily with liberalism.
It’s not a coincidence, liberalism just inevitably feeds into creating fascism, anyone who has studied the history of fascism historically can really see that. Even if Ur-fascism is somewhat different, one can visibly see the leaders of neoliberalism stepping back to ensure the rise of fascism over making concessions to the working class.
And the enemies always attempt to leverage their perfectionism against them.
Even if a liberal or progressive or leftist does something, there's always gonna be some asshole that jumps out and is like, oh yeah, but did you think about this thing? Unfortunately, you are not perfect, therefore you are entirely invalid and should be derided.
We've been watching the literal play out of the perfect as the enemy of the good for the last decade, and almost nobody has picked up on it, and we still have all of these stupid-ass divides when, in general, our goals align and we could worry about perfectionism after we've gotten rid of the cancer.
Liberals who think genocide is "good" are the cancer we want to get rid of. Our goals don't align, they're diametrically opposed
Zionism is the cancer. It’s a genocidal project. This isn’t a “stupid-ass divide” between aligned groups. It’s a battle line between enemies.

I'm still not sure I follow what group counts as liberal on different parts of Lemmy, but does liberal to you include e.g. democratic socialists? Social democrats? Non-revolutionary socialist orgs?
Or are liberals free-market small-state types?
Social democrats yes, democratic socialists no. Liberals are pro private ownership of the means of production.
I think you misspelled "genocide"

The context of the post and comment are about liberal zionism, and the extended context is that a liberal zionist is just as bad as a fascist, which is true. The big common denominator (amongst many other things) being genocide.
Israel has been largely headed by liberal zionists for the majority of it's genocidal colonial history so far. It's only recently that the rightwing have gained the majority they enjoy now. And they both agree on the genocide, just differ on the optics and language used.

But the working class struggle that the comment mentioned is of course bigger than the genocide. Since they mentioned it, I wanted to learn more about their position. Discussing socialism and unionisation in the context of the class struggle does not diminish the genocide in Palestine.
The working class struggle and the genocide are the same struggle.

Certainly! You can start by asking fully formed questions instead of just saying the word "unionisation" like it's some sort of 'gotcha'.
It was not at all meant as a gotcha. Let me reformulate: "Which issues in particular are you referring to? The class struggle leads to a plethora of important societal issues to address, and I am interested in hearing some particular examples. One such example could be the issue of unionisation, which holds a great deal of nuance across political contexts around the world, and therefore is a particularly interesting microcosm of this topic."
If I had known that my question would be understood as hostile, I would certainly have put in more time to clarify what I meant. I'm still not sure why my question is hostile?
