From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

I also switched to Ubuntu from windows not too long ago, but in my case it was from windows 10. It is a night and day as far as the overall experience.
I also switched from win 10, but I must use Win11 at work and I hate it. I decided to never switch to 11 on my private computer. Especially that I would need to buy a new PC, MS found my hardware unworthy of their new system. After a tenth reminder from Microslop I decided to install Linux. It's my third try with Linux and it's better than the previous one by miles. The only thing that I couldn't get to work so far is M$ Teams, and I'm happy about it.
MS Teams app lost its native linux build a few years ago (worked fine just M$ being M$) but the in browser / out of office 365 version still works fine for me.
