Wym, twelve thousand dead, thousands more disappeared and forty years of martial law is a small price to pay to combat authoritarianism!
Real talk, my wife's parents grew up on Taiwan during the white terror period and they are horribly traumatized, horribly abusive fascist assholes who she cut ties with as soon as she possibly could. Forty fucking years of martial law, can you imagine what that does to people?
