I think it's pretty safe to say that the majority of us are here to avoid another corporate takeover of our preferred platforms. It would seem to me to be a tad irresponsible to allow Facebook into our space with open arms, allowing them to hoover up our data. I would love to keep using Lemmy.world, but will happily change instances if need be, and I feel many share that sentiment.

Yes! I wonder how a company working with Cambridge analytica to start a war, and influence elections worldwide, who sold children's personal information illegaly in EU, and gleefully partcipates in the Prism surveillance program, would be? ๐Ÿค” I mean it's not like they just gutted their staff trying to deal with misinformation for the 24 election. We simply can't predict how they might behave!
