Because so far they keep making games, while appealing, focus so heavily on monetization that I can't get myself to become interested in them
Most of the action rpgs I've seen in the last five-ish years have play-to-get-ahead dlc's. I was going to recommend a monster hunter game but they have "guardian armor" that lets you skip the first five-ish hours of progression.
It really sucks, and I get it. But talking about it with strangers on the internet will not make anyone feel better. I recommend just playing the dang game if it's that enticing. I'll probably play dragons dogma 2 in a couple years when mods will let you cheat in the dlc items for free.
