Ah yes, PC and mobile. Two platforms that are both very similar and absolutely core to Horizon's fanbase.

This will go well, I'm sure.

Maybe not mobile but PC people are definitely Horizon fanbase, a bit lagged but still, Forbidden West is on it's way to PC

Maybe theyre adding a companion app? The focus is a big deal in the game, and niantic has sold out the technique to 3 game series with middling to better success already. Maybe it will have some gimmicky pokemon go esque deal for minor game resources.

At least when it was popular, Pokemon Go was basically a reskin of an existing game, Ingress. The concept was cool, but the execution was lacking.

I was surprised they seemed to have learned nothing, like the rural/urban problem, and made basically no changes.

A mobile app is one of my most hated gameplay experiences. Think of what the greats did on original consoles and how they used their limitations to push boundaries and now think of how GTA V, which had an in game smartphone and Internet required you to use your real world phone to train your in game dog.

Gimmick is the right word, the fuckers were also harvesting data.

Thats pretty variable on how its used tho. If it was used like pikmin go, a step counter that you use to gather crafting materials (akin to the actual gathering experience in the horizon games) while you go about your day to day life, it would actually be kind of cool.

What Im picturing is basically the add on that pokemon soulsilver had, where you could put a single pokemon into a literal step counter that gave the pokemon exp as you walked, and sometimes found items or pokemon for you to transfer into your game when you played next. Its a minigame on your phone to gather otherwise semi tedious crafting materials.

And, yeah theyre absolutely going to be harvesting data. Thats a given, which sucks ass. But thats hard to get away from when literally everyone does it. You start a movement to cut that shit from gaming, and Ill march with you. But its not like this is breaking ground on that front.

Heck, you can even add MMO to that too, as it’s one of the PS single player crafted games.

It would be like a God of War or Uncharted MMORPG, that’s not the niche for those fanbases.
