While this is very true 40k in itself borrows a lot for things that influenced video games as well like the Alien series,Dune, Mad Max etc. The Article just talks about Doom is seems like maybe the writer should take their own advice.

"In the same interview, Carmack revealed that the game’s producers saw it as a hybrid of James Cameron's science fiction staple and Sam Raimi’s over-the-top cult horror classic—which sees characters accidentally summon and then brutally battle undead terrors. The design team even included chainsaws and shotguns, favourites of Evil Dead’s Ash, among the game’s weapons."

The similarities become more striking after actually reading the mainline Dune books. Like, I get it, I love 40k and it’s endless potential for stories, but the entire world is straight up a ripoff of Dune lmao.

Dune mixed with their Warhammer Fantasy setting and Judge Dredd.

(They stole Fantasy from Moorecock)
