I am sure that if you actively piss off the community by removing content or adding more paywalled content you will prevent that.

I prefer Destiny 1 at least it is a full game with all the story intact.

Deleting all the main story and half the DLC people paid for is not how you run a game.

In my case I cannot access anything that I paid for. Bungie can get fucked with a thorny cactus covered in lemon juice.

What a fall from grace from the Halo days... Really shows that they were looking for more money, not for creative freedom as they framed it when they got bought by Activision.

the part that really makes me heave is that Sony gave them $1.2 billion earmarked for retention, and they gutted multiple longtime departments including people from the Halo days.

Whoever's making the decisions at the top have gotten real cynical.

I kind of assumed it wasn't still playable. Going back to that to scratch the gunplay itch is tempting.

Oooh, didn't know that. So, if I get the Destiny 1 now, I can play from start, and then all the expansions in a sequence, like a normal game?

[–] Gamers_Mate@kbin.social 9 points 11 months ago (1 children)

yes but It is not cross platform.
Maybe we should start a fediverse Clan for destiny 1.

If you want to buy the DLC the order is as follows.
1: The dark below
2: House of Wolves
3: The Taken King
4: Rise of Iron.
Though for Rise of Iron you need a ps4/xbox one or newer to play as xbox 360 and ps3 does not have that content.

I'll probably get it on PS5, don't have a gaming PC, or any PC that can run anything released after Age of Empires 2 (the original one) 😀 .

Just looked it up, PS have a complete pack with all the DLC/Expansions, but it's full price (59.99) and apparently doesn't go on sale...

How's the game when playing Solo?

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I went through it all solo about 5 years ago, and it was great. It can be difficult because of the lack of other players, but I was able to do it, and I suck at console FPS controls.

Thanks for the feedback!

Bring back original content from the start of the game and I'll consider starting to play. I ain't going to play a game where I'm missing the beginning.

[–] bridge_too_close@kbin.social 6 points 11 months ago

To add to this, bring back content I paid for. I bought Forsaken and took a break before finishing it, and now it's gone.

This is literally the old EA stratagem. Give the "independent" developer basically an impossible goal and then go "well you failed to meet the goal, looks like you need a little bit of help from us, and by little help, we mean from now on, you do exactly what we tell you, or else". EA pulled this off with Origin Systems and (to a different extent) BioWare to name just a few examples. It ended with complete sadness.

To EA's credit, that charade usually took a long time to come to completion. Sony is trying to pull this this so soon after acquiring Bungie.

[–] conciselyverbose@kbin.social 14 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Sony's games are a lot more player friendly than Destiny is, especially since their break with Activision. I like the idea of Sony taking charge a lot more than I liked the idea of Bungie guiding other properties (eg The Last of Us multiplayer, which they allegedly didn't think was GaaS enough).

[–] Wumbologist@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

With how terrible the monetization practices in Destiny already are, I honestly don't know if Sony taking over would be a bad thing

If Final Shape sucks as much as Lightfall did, it will, and should.

They have actively made the game less fun for me in the past few seasons. They decided that what people want is a challenge, all the time. It used to be that low-level stuff was a breeze and you could just shoot your way through it. Now, you slog through it for the same weak rewards as before, but it takes longer and is less fun. The hard content didn't get any harder, though. Those are the people that actually want challenge, and they don't get more of it.

And on top of that, the new seasonal content apparently has limited revives and particular things you have to do to survive. Unsurprisingly, blueberries are failing miserably at this. I haven't bothered playing it because it's exactly the opposite of what I want from repeated content, and I don't want to join a guild again. While I loved my guild, I felt compelled to play more so I didn't let them down, and I'm done with that.

Bungie needs to stop listening to streamers and fanatical players and listen to the players that are quitting in droves instead.

What? You don't enjoy getting mapped by Cabal rockets in patrol zones?

Major expansions with missing content and glaring plot holes?

PvP with all the "balance" of a sledgehammer to the face, and whatever the hell is left of Gambit?

Recycled D1 strikes that you now have to run even more of every week for the same rewards?

Narrative for a foregone conclusion.
