Imagine if Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Cox banded together for a showdown against the studios accusing them of liability? AT&T runs an NSA stronghold in Manhattan, they're not going to let their darlings go down in a teeny lawsuit like this. I really want to see this happening. Let them fight.

Yeah lets get big corporate to stand up for us against uhh big corporate... We have to stand up ourselves by leaving it up to them you are giving them control over your freedom of choice. Dont fall for their games

They should stand up for themselves which should in theory help pirates

They do stand up for themselves. Meaning, their bottom line.

[–] krolden@lemmy.ml 32 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Why would they? They own a controlling interest in multiple studios/production companies. If not directly then through other investments like hedge funds etc.

Now if SAG-AFTRA decided to start their own studio that would be cool.

They're getting sued though. They don't need to stand up for us; them not taking shit is just acting as cover for us

Maybe op is referring to this?

It’s not about the movie/tv industry though.

They will not because it wouldn't be profitable to them.

They're getting sued right now

They're working together because they're part of the same machine

Out of those four, Cox is the one seemingly being the one who's combative. The other three will fold easily and are complicit with any demand the studios have done.

So it is very hard to imagine, really.
