Short answer: It's an early access MMO in the style of minecraft or roblox.

(The article links to some leaks and has as much detail as there is, quite recommend if you're interested)

I don't know how it would be possible, but imagine if within each player's beacon they could use the capabilities of Mario Maker and/or Animal Crossing somehow? One can always dream...
