Been using Usenet for 20 years now and have just used my credit card. Never had an issue. If you were sued for using Usenet you might actually be the first.

practically speaking depends on your level of paranoia, i will let better versed people correct me.

as a more general point, you should strive to purchase everything anon.

using cash in every day life is a low hanging fruit ;)

You can use bitcoin or monero, but I honestly it does matter even if you use your main email when purchasing providers and indexers. Technically speaking both indexers and providers are legal.

As a complete usenet newbie (I usually torrent all my linux iso) is there any caveat to getting that bulknews 6 TB block deal to last me for an eternity as a backup? It seems too good to be true.

It is basically like purchasing a prepaid phone plan, it last forever until you use the data.
