From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

new Thunderbird now has a notification system for real-time desktop alerts

Holy dirty moly! Finally. Now my personal project can be put to read only mode. :D (nobody other than me was using it anyway)

It only took what... 20 years?

What does this mean? It wasn’t real time before?

It was quantum time, either you get the notification or not or both 🤭

On MacOS there was only the option to show all notifications with the same settings. This lead to me either missing appointments because their notifications didn't stay, or getting drowned by email notifications which is very annoying.

What I want is to have appointments show up as notifications that stay, while emails show up as notifications that go away after a few seconds. Here's hope that this is now possible keeps both thumbs pressed

did they fix the encryption bullshit which makes it impossible to see external content when using encryption? Therefore I have to read such emails on my android version of thunderbird facepalm deluxe

I used this for a while but the fastmail web interface is actually good enough... I use thunderbird for cleaning up and deleting stuff, and organizing... There it shines.
