Those will be some hot NICs.

Is there a community for that? Asking for a friend.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 7 points 1 day ago

Parasites just looting.

Chinese infrastructure developing is truly impressive. I guess that's one benefit of being in an imperial dictatorship.

[–] einlander@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It feels like they are using this presidency to get as far ahead as they can.

[–] rottingleaf@lemmy.world -3 points 1 day ago

Not just this one. But I think you are overestimating such improvements over strategic ones that the US is still doing more. Say, Starlink really turning into some sort of planetary cell network.

They are ostensibly a one party state, not a dictatorship. While Xi is the paramount leader, he claims he isn't a dictator and I definitely believe him. Also it seems like he doesn't have absolute control, but what do I know.

They are ostensibly a one party state, not a dictatorship.

This sentence feels so Soviet.

[–] burgersc12@mander.xyz 3 points 1 day ago

Yeah, hate that the world views him as not a dictator, at least formally, but I don't make the rules.

[–] RogueBanana@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago

I think few people missed the sarcasm

[–] alcoholicorn@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

What do you think would happen if he started doing things the people able to recall him didn't like?

KC starts the beta for 50gig next month.

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

High speed internet behind the Great Firewall sounds wonderful. It would be like rapid public transit behind the iron curtain. You can go quickly and conveniently to any dim, depressing place we let you go.

[–] alcoholicorn@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 day ago

Do you really believe everything in the USSR was dim and depressing? Do you also think everything is Mexico is tinted yellow?

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What would anyone need 50Gb for?

Like seriously, what would that get you what you can't do now?

My local Network adapter isn't half that fast

[–] DarkDarkHouse@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 1 day ago

That's the thing, it's hard to imagine what we'll use it for until it's available.

[–] essteeyou@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Well, at least they're doing it quietly.

[–] rottingleaf@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

That's cool, but all the important stuff doesn't take much.

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Because everyone there uses the Internet?

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Yeah not one soul uses the internet over there, but they're doing it anyway just to shit on Verizon

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I probably shouldn't have posted it that way. I've been to Bejing, but I picture a lot of rural rice farmers just NOT part of the Internet and of course with censorship rampant, I just figure, why so fast? Sounds like flexing. But maybe I'm wrong.

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 2 points 1 day ago

Even rice farmers watch Netflix.
