Crying about someone badmouthing your boss who badmouths everyone makes you look like a weak little pissant. Respectfully.
Tim Snyder wrote about this. Part of their game is to tear down everyone else's ability to say or do anything, to the point where the most laughably weak or unconvincing piss can stand as "winning" because they're destroyed anything that might laugh it off and discard it, as might happen in a healthy society.
The stumbling point comes when they encounter something that exists outside their little arena where they were able to weaken everybody to the point that their weak-sauce bullshit could actually succeed.
Buddy, everyone has written you off now. No amount of ass kissing will fix, but some truth might persuade others (read: Europe) to send more aid
