From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

As any Linux chat room or forum will tell you, the most powerful tool to any Linux user is a terminal emulator. Just about every program under the sun has a command line alternative, be it CAD, note taking, or web browsing. Likewise, the digital audio workstation (DAW) is the single most important tool to anyone making music. Therefore, [unspeaker] decided the two should, at last, be combined with a terminal based DAW called Tek.

Thanks u. By CAD u mean Computer Aided Design? If so, what are terminal emulator alternatives for that?

But it is also a fun road!

It's super useful to make custom 3D prints.

I've been using a script to generate custom nameplates which are oriented such that the face is parallel to the build plate, so I can swap filament colors when it transitions from the nameplate to the name.

I could do this manually in CAD, but it would take a huge amount of time. Now I just edit a script file, alter a string or two and adjust some spacing values and get a ready to print model.

Pretty neat
