Canada? I can't find a reference to where we've "invaded, bombed, couped, supported dictators, supported terrorists and/or interfered in elections" in Canada since 1900. Nor Greenland, though we did put nuclear weapons there without being clear about it, if that counts.

What's France doing in red? That's like the ONE invasion for which people had no complaints πŸ˜‚ More nazi punching and less overthrow of democratic governments, please.

Sure, fuck America. But also, fuck North Korea, you know?

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Comeon guys. Let's be reasonable and find the common ground. I mean yeah, pff, whatever fuck Hitler I get it. But seriously. Fuck the Jews, you know?

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 43 points 4 days ago (2 children)

i object to this because the phrasing "invasion" still makes it out like the DPRK are the bad guys

it was a civil war, the lead up to the civil war seeing the South have a police dictatorship supported by the U.S. which did literally every awful thing the u.s. has accused the DPRK of doing, including killing people for the wrong fucking haircut

notice how literally no american ever talks about the U.S. civil war with "the North invaded the South"

and they're the good guys because they "ended slavery"*

*terms and conditions apply

"War of Northern Aggression" anyone?

[–] huf@hexbear.net 12 points 4 days ago

Eeeh, plenty of American civil war revisionists go for that argument actually, it was even a major theme of the ken burns documentary

USA is a threat to world peace.

[–] comfy@lemmy.ml 27 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

I remember seeing a "Yakko's World, but with every country the US has bombed since WWII" and was sad to see they forgot the first one in the song, "America".

(Any other times?)

hmm ... sorry for being so critical. But where does this qualifiy as a meme? It is more like a "straw man" for politics discussion. That's what you want, right?

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 20 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

You're right the bottom image is wrong a country can't invade itself.

Also that is not what a straw man is.

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 8 points 3 days ago

same applies to china, btw.

[–] PM_ME_VINTAGE_30S@lemmy.sdf.org 23 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I'm surprised that there are countries we haven't bombed πŸ™ƒ

Hoping UK is next.

[–] gezero@lemmy.bowyerhub.uk 13 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Why is Ukraine not red on the bottom map?

[–] davel@lemmy.ml 15 points 4 days ago

North Koreans didn’t fight in Ukraine. They fought in Russia.

[–] bob_lemon@feddit.org 9 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Russia should be red for "supporting dictators", too.

Oh I just noticed that we only count invasions for DPRK instead of all the other things.

[–] Omnipitaph@reddthat.com 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There is so much context missing here it is crazy. This is such a shameless use of manipulative statistics, it would only convince the dumbest of people of its argument.

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What do you think a 'statistic' is?

[–] Omnipitaph@reddthat.com 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I can't tell if your question is a poorly veiled critique of my comment, or if you genuinely don't see the presentation of data in the post. The image literally has a grouping of data points conveying a narrative; that's statistics. A collection of quantitative data. Just because its bad statistics doesn't mean it isn't.

Okay, I'll bite, what do you think is missing or how could this information be made to be accurate?

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (3 children)

Love that they change the metric between the two. Also, I am not a fan of DPRK. but I’ve never once described them in that way.

And just in case no one in the back can hear, JUST BC USA IS AWFUL DOESN’T MEAN OTHER REGIMES ARE GOOD.

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 16 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Who did the dprk coup or bomb?

[–] Ram_The_Manparts@hexbear.net 15 points 3 days ago

lol

lmao, even

[–] jackeroni@lemmy.ml 5 points 3 days ago

Friend, the ones telling you the other "regimes are awful" IS the US empire

[–] happyfullfridge@lemmy.ml -3 points 4 days ago (3 children)

mostly seen dpkr be called a threat to it's own citizen, which is very true

[–] FortifiedAttack@hexbear.net 35 points 4 days ago (1 children)

According to people who do not live in the DPRK
