This meme seems… forced. (1) No one really asks that question, (2) the premise that only people in capitalist countries want communism is false, and (3) no Marxist worth their salt would answer this way.

We always say "the grass is always greener on the other side".

Communism things the same about capitalism.

Not really. There were some that felt that way in the later parts of the USSR, but the broad majority still supported socialism and wished to maintain it. In socialist countried today, they are overwhelmingly crirical of capitalism and supportive of socialism. Liberals exist in socialist countries, sure, but they aren't the mainstream.

Not sure about the USSR but in east Germany there are 2 camps: those who profited from the socialist system and are in full support, and those burned by the socialist government are some of the biggest anti-socialists I know

East Germany is especially complicated considering when the Berlin Wall fell the communists were all purged from their positions, many in show trials.

What with all of the communist related posts lately? I’m seeing lately this amount of memes and posts that I haven’t seen in last 10 years.

The red flag revival

Lemmy has a lot of us, the rejection of capitalist-owned media like Reddit plus the fact that the devs are communists draws a lot of us here.

As opposed to the very deep thought of "Oligarchy, genocide and climate extinction is the best we can do actually"

Yeah it’s nowhere near as deep as the galaxy brained “communism looks good on paper” schtick

Communism is good on paper, but carl mark failed to consider "human nature" and personally killed 7,000 marxillion people 😰

Is that why he's named after German currency?! 🤔

[–] oculi@anarchist.nexus 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

He claims to be "anti-capitalist", yet the Germans named their capitalist currency after him? Curious. 🧐
