Oh good, even when you are buying their competition, you are still buying NVIDIA.

U.S. ‌antitrust agencies had cleared Nvidia’s investment in Intel, according to a notice ‍posted by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission earlier in December.

Are they even giving reasons anymore? Or is the "antitrust agency" just a guy napping in a corner they periodically wake up just to give a thumbs up?

[–] errer@lemmy.world 21 points 2 months ago

It’s called antitrust now cause it’s the opposite of trust

Nah. Guy in the corner napping died 40 years ago, but they taped a sheet of paper on him saying "No Issues. Approved"

So the net of obligation, ownership and mutually assured destruction continues to tighten?

At some point this is going to explode .. right?

i was reading earlier that this is looking more and more like ENRON style accounting and acquisition. That ended badly but it didn't happen on a scale that NVIDIA is currently treading

Oh god yes....

The talking heads are going to point out how obvious it should have been at this time too.

Why would it? Computers going away soon?

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 months ago

Computers don’t need NVIDIA. NVIDIA needs computers.

At first glance I had read the headline like this:

Nvidia takes $ ... Intel

:-)

At what point does the NASDAQ just become a circle instead of companies that own each other.

How are they going to blame the poor for this implosion?

[–] Taldan@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Why would they blame the poor? The need the poor to be their excuse for getting a bailout. Not sure how they'll sell it yet, but somehow all the AI companies will get bailouts to "help the poor" through our upcoming difficult economic times
