God I remember doing a puzzle in Jedi fallen order and about half way through it's like "oh maybe you should do this" and pointed me to the solution... Like if I'm playing on the hardest difficulty why are you throwing hints that ruin the whole thing?

What is even the point then?

Just watch a movie or read a book.

Shit, listen to an audiobook if you're that lazy!

How is this new or original in any way!? This has been a feature in many kinds of games, for ages

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

that was my question, and they explicitly address it in the article

It is claimed that the AI model would be trained on existing footage of the game, instead of being a pre-recorded series of inputs set by a developer.

so uh I guess (1) they're gonna spy on your gameplay now to train it, and (2) it might not be helpful at all

but the shareholders see this as an absolute win‽

Lol we're back to kids playing on arcade games with no coins in it thinking they're playing super well

Younger siblings playing Mario on the second controller in one-player mode.

But then you have to unplug it for duck hunt.

I'm sure game journalists will still manage to get stuck on the tutorial XD

So much for critical thinking skills...

Reminds me of the Gran Turismo days when an elastic band around the trigger was free money on Test course.

Remember when Atreus wouldn't shut the fuck up in God of War (you know, a FIRST party Sony game) and would tell you the solution if you got stuck? Tone it down a little and it would be perfect. We don't need AI bullshit.

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 month ago

They should change their name from Sony Interactive Entertainment

[–] FlembleFabber@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago

If its an opt in feature that helps you when you are stuck it could be nice. Knowing Sony tho they'll make sure it sucks and gets shoved down your throat

[–] llama@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 month ago

So just a video then without the game

[–] dil@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I dont see the issue, I would wait for my cousins to visist to get me past hard points in games as a kid, this wouldve let kid me who was new to using a conttoller finish games that I never touched again and never will.

Watching other ppl play a game start to finish livestreaming or on youtube is somehow social acceptable but this is bad.

So, are they going to train it on TMNT for the NES that was basically impossible?

Also the Blaster Master and the Game Glitches Legacy Sequel anti-AI two part episode. Which is also extra ironic because in the end they glitch the Spider Man games on the PS5.

GTA5 let you skip sections that were too hard for you (or too badly designed) and I am sure so did many other games. From a game design perspective this is nothing new whatsoever and won‘t change the medium in any way.
